Light - Compact - Efficient.....the Zodiac ISO 9650 standard is intended to improve and harmonise design standards for Liferafts. It distinguishes 2 categories of rafts. "Type 1" for Ocean navigation and "Type 2" for coastal navigation (the ISO 9650 standard does not impose any limit between coastal and open sea sailing).
Open Sea ISO 9650 rafts belong to the TYPE1 category, ie they are designed for sailing on the open sea and thus adapted to the risks incurred on long voyages (high winds and heavy seas). They are available in GROUP A: rafts designed to inflate correctly at an ambient air temperature of between - 15 degrees C and 65 degrees C. The Open Sea ISO 9650 rafts are produced with equipment for less than or more than 24 hours. In order to meet the needs of your sailing programme (long distances, trips, etc), the under 24 hour version can be transformed with the greatest of ease into the over 24 hour version with the addition of a grab bag. Buoyant and watertight, it contains the supplemetary equipment necessary when you have to wait longer to be rescued, and is equipped with an attachment system for increased safety.
Always striving to be at the leading edge in safety, the structure of the Zodiac Liferaft is manufactured to conform to to the requirements of ISO 9650 (International Organization for Standardization on the design of Liferafts). For optimum location by day and night a canopy is fitted with an enlarged area of radar reflective tape which increases the chance of electronic detection. A brightly coloured underside makes it easy to spot if capisized. All Zodiac Liferafts are now equipped with a brand new fabric. With its triple layer in nylon and polyurethane, this triple fabric insures great air tightness and durability, light weight and perfect visibility. High volume, weighted water ballast pockets for immediate deployment give stability when boarding and stabilize the Liferaft in high winds and heavy seas.
Zodiac was the first French nautical company to obtain certification for Liferafts: a strict quality system giving you assurance that every Liferaft is rigorously checked at each stage of manufacture. Due to Zodiacs confidence and product quality a 12 year guarantee is provided for the Liferafts provided they undergo the inspections stipulated every 3 years at an Authorised Service Station (this is applicable to leisure use only). Please enquire regarding charter or commercial service stipulations.
